Gyeonggi Economic Science Institute Appoints 11 'Integrity Citizen Auditors'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency has appointed CEOs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and field experts with professional expertise and practical experience as citizen auditors.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency announced that on the 17th and 18th, over two days, it appointed six SME CEOs and five field experts as 'Integrity CEOs and Citizen Auditors' at the 10th-floor conference room of the Science Center in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon.
This appointment of 'Integrity CEOs and Citizen Auditors' is a measure to enhance administrative transparency and integrity through the participation of SME CEOs, who are the main clients of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency, and external experts, and to improve services by prohibiting disadvantages and discrimination against SMEs.
The SME CEOs are mainly entrepreneurs whose companies have grown through the support projects of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency. The citizen auditors consist of field experts such as lawyers, labor attorneys, accountants, and researchers.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency selected the Integrity CEOs and Citizen Auditors through recommendations within the agency and subsequent review. The term of office is one year from the date of appointment, with the possibility of renewal.
The Integrity CEOs and Citizen Auditors will play roles including ▲monitoring major projects and corruption-prone areas ▲investigating and handling corruption-related complaints and proposing institutional improvements ▲checking the implementation status of administrative demands ▲advising on anti-corruption and integrity policies ▲providing corruption prevention education ▲and other activities to spread a culture of integrity.

Kim Ki-jun, President of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency, emphasized, "With the participation of SME CEOs from various fields and citizen auditors with professional expertise and practical experience, we expect to realize fair and transparent audit administration," adding, "Furthermore, through integrity policies where citizens participate and take ownership, we will strive to become the highest-level integrity institution in the Republic of Korea."
