According to foreign media including CNN, on the 16th (local time), President Hernandez stated in a TV address, "I began feeling discomfort since last weekend and have tested positive for COVID-19," adding, "My condition is not severe, and I plan to continue working remotely from the hospital." Honduras has experienced a rise in cases after easing COVID-19 restrictions, with 166 new daily cases reported on the 15th, the highest number since the spread of COVID-19 began in March.
