KOTRA, Post-Corona Response ICT Export Companies Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA held a meeting of post-COVID-19 response information and communication technology (ICT) export companies on the 16th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul. The 10 ICT export companies attending the meeting shared their difficulties caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and opinions on new export opportunities.
ICT companies are experiencing increased demand in contactless services, remote management, and quarantine fields, such as AI-based remote medical solutions, fever detection thermal cameras, and real estate listing 3D virtual tour software. They also expected that the national brand enhanced by 'K-quarantine' would have a positive impact on exports.
Online marketing plays a role in connecting demand to exports. One company attending the meeting developed a product earlier this year but faced difficulties in finding buyers due to COVID-19, eventually opening export channels through video consultations. KOTRA provides video consultation opportunities in various ICT fields, including devices, software, solutions, and even projects.
Small and medium-sized ICT companies are also experiencing difficulties such as delays in export contracts and project progress after COVID-19. The companies participating in the meeting hoped for a more open support method, such as sharing digital marketing infrastructure suitable for the post-COVID-19 era. KOTRA plans to hold an offline event, 'Global Mobile Vision (GMV),' linked with online marketing projects such as ICT online special halls and webinars by technology field in the second half of this year.
Kwon Pyung-oh, President of KOTRA, said, "The ICT sector is expected to grow further while leading the overcoming of COVID-19," adding, "We will support ICT export companies appropriately for the new environment through online and offline linked marketing and industry-specific customized services."
