Jeollabuk-do and Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation Sign Business Agreement
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] Jeonbuk Province and Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation announced on the 16th that they signed a business agreement at the provincial office to support 600 units of ‘Sarang-ui Green PC’ over three years for the information-vulnerable groups who have difficulty acquiring information and communication devices due to economic conditions.
This business agreement was prepared to address the information gap and online exclusion of information-vulnerable groups as non-face-to-face activities increased due to the implementation of social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era.
The ‘Sarang-ui Green PC’ distribution project is a program that allows residents to smoothly access information and communication services and enjoy the basic right to utilize information. It collects used PCs donated from public institutions, companies, etc., refurbishes them, installs essential programs, and distributes quality PCs to individuals and institutions in need of closing the information gap.
This project faced difficulties due to a reduction in budget and distribution volume after the national subsidy project was discontinued last year and converted into a local government’s own project starting this year. However, through this agreement, the distribution volume has been secured for the next three years.
Jeonbuk Province plans to prioritize distributing about 220 units, including used PCs donated by Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation this year, to residents who have difficulty purchasing PCs due to economic conditions.
The distributed specifications include CPU (Core 2 Duo or higher), memory (4GB), SSD (120GB), HDD (250GB), 19-inch LCD monitor, Windows 10, MS Office, etc. If a malfunction occurs in the distributed PC, it can be repaired free of charge for one year through Samsung C&S (063-271-0001).
Residents who wish to participate in this project can apply by visiting the nearest community center with their ID card by the 26th. Only applicants who apply within the period will be reviewed for eligibility and then distributed.
