[Post-Corona Strategy] HiteJinro Opens 'Bbanggre' for Low-Income Youth Independence in Changwon Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] HiteJinro continues its benevolent efforts for members of our society, including sharing activities for socially marginalized groups.
HiteJinro officially opened the bakery cafe "Bbanggre" as part of the "Youth Startup Project" in collaboration with Korea South-East Power and Changwon Regional Self-Sufficiency Center to establish a foundation for the independence of low-income youth in the Changwon area.
"Bbanggre" was planned to create a foundation for the independence of low-income youth in the Changwon area. Selected applicants receive baking-related skills training, gain direct cafe operation experience for a certain period, and then pass on their know-how to juniors. HiteJinro will lease the "Bbanggre" space rent-free for 10 years and support management fees for six months until operations stabilize. Vehicles necessary for purchasing ingredients and transporting bread will also be provided.

Additionally, to support small business owners struggling due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), HiteJinro will waive rent in full for four months from March to June for 17 locations in Seoul, Busan, Gangwon, and Jeonju regions, which it owns and currently leases to small business owners. Prior to this, a total of 1.2 billion KRW in cash and other support was provided for COVID-19 prevention and recovery in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, designated as special management zones.
