[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 15th that it has imposed and notified 85.5 billion KRW in automobile tax for the first term of 2020 on approximately 790,000 registered vehicles within the jurisdiction.
The taxpayers liable for this automobile tax are the vehicle owners registered as of June 1. The payment period is until June 30. A 3% surcharge will be applied if the payment deadline is missed.
By vehicle type, passenger cars account for 80.6 billion KRW, representing 94.3% of the total automobile tax. By district, Dalseo-gu has the highest amount at 20.7 billion KRW, and Nam-gu has the lowest at 4 billion KRW. This is a decrease of 700 million KRW compared to last year's imposed amount of 86.2 billion KRW, mainly due to an increase of 4.5 billion KRW in the annual prepayment of automobile tax paid in advance over the year.
Automobile tax is imposed in two installments in June and December for the annual amount. However, vehicles with an annual tax amount of 100,000 KRW or less are charged the full amount in June.
