View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) announced on the 15th that Cheongwan Nonghyup was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' '2021 Rice Drying and Storage Facility Contest Project,' securing a total project cost of 1.9 billion KRW.
Currently, Jangheung-gun's capacity for drying and storing paddy rice is about 10,000 tons, which can only handle about 21% compared to the annual rice production of 47,000 tons, indicating a shortage of drying and storage facilities.
Jangheung-gun plans to expand the rice drying and storage capacity to 16,000 tons within the next two years, establishing a system to purchase up to 35% of the rice production volume as paddy rice.
To this end, Jangheung-gun is making every effort to be selected for the national subsidy contest project.
At last month's on-site evaluation of Cheongwan Nonghyup, Governor Jeong Jong-sun personally attended and expressed the urgency of the project and local conditions to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' evaluation committee.

Governor Jeong Jong-sun of Jangheung-gun said, "The selection for this national subsidy contest project is a valuable result achieved together by local farmers, the Nonghyup, and the administration," adding, "It is significant in that it laid the foundation for changes in the agricultural structure in the region, where ultra-aging is progressing, and for upgrading the quality of Jangheung rice."
