Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok Urgently Inspects 'Heavy Rain Damage Sites'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, made an urgent visit to the heavy rain damage site in the reclaimed land of Deukryang Bay, Boseong, to inspect the damage and console the affected farmers.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 14th, heavy rain fell mainly in the southern coastal areas for three days from the 12th, including 144mm in Boseong, 140mm in Muan, 138mm in Hampyeong, and 137.5mm in Sinan, causing waterlogging damage to rice and other crops.
After touring the rice flood damage site in the reclaimed land of Deukryang Bay, Boseong County, Governor Kim said, "It is unfortunate that the damage occurred shortly after rice transplanting," adding, "We will conduct a thorough damage survey and prepare support measures to minimize the damage."
Meanwhile, due to the heavy rain since the 12th, a preliminary estimate shows that a total of 416 hectares of rice fields were flooded, mainly in the southern coastal areas such as Boseong and Goheung in Jeonnam.

A Jeonnam Province official said, "Flooded rice paddies should be drained quickly, and pest and disease control should be expedited as soon as the weather improves," and urged, "Please also sign up for rice crop insurance by the 26th."
