On the 12th, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India announced that the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India was recorded at 297,535.
Accordingly, India became the country with the fourth highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world, following the United States (2,089,701), Brazil (805,649), and Russia (502,436).
India, which was ranked sixth in the world until the previous day, recorded 10,956 new confirmed cases in one day, surpassing the United Kingdom and Spain.
The number of deaths increased by 396 from the previous day to 8,498. Both the number of confirmed cases and deaths set records for the highest numbers for two consecutive days.
