Jangsu-gun Public Officials' Poetry Collection Publication Draws Attention

The person in the spotlight is Choi Younghee (57 years old, Health Level 6, Choi Seollan) from the Health Project Division of the Health and Medical Center.
According to a county official on the 12th, Choi selected 60 poems out of about 400 poems she had written over 20 years and published her first poetry collection titled "The Cry of Time Comes from the Side of the Reed Leaves."
She debuted in 2008 by winning the Newcomer Award from "Poetry and Imagination," and is a well-known poet in the local community, having received the Bronze Prize in the poetry category at the 7th Dongseo Coffee Literature Awards and the Best Award in the poetry category at the Korea National Open University Literature Contest.
Her hometown is Seonchang-ri, Jangsu-eup, Jangsu-gun, Jeonbuk. She has lived only in Jangsu-gun since childhood, which has deepened her appreciation for nature such as forests, grass, flowers, and mountains.
She is a member of the Jangsu-gun Writers' Association and participates in the Sisanmaek poetry club. Her poems express emotions of compassion and longing for flowers, birds, trees, love, and stars, as well as discomfort with greed, harshness, and superficiality.

Choi Younghee said, "The world seems to be getting harsher and drier," adding, "The role of a poet is to sprinkle water on those parched places." She also said, "What is necessary to promote the health of the county residents is not only medicine," and "Achieving emotional stability through literature is also a secret to maintaining health."
