Chonnam National University and Jeju Halla University Newly Designated as 'Early Childhood Forest Instructor Training Institutions'

View original image[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chonnam National University and Jeju Halla University have been newly designated as institutions for training early childhood forest instructors.
The Korea Forest Service announced on the 12th that this decision was made recently at the 28th Forest Education Deliberation Committee meeting.
Currently, there are 17 designated and operating institutions nationwide for training early childhood forest instructors. These instructors complete a specialized training course of more than 205 hours at the training institutions to qualify for operating early childhood forest education programs.
After obtaining the qualification, they can assist young children in forest experience activities at places such as early childhood forest experience centers.
The committee also newly certified 27 forest education programs through review and resolution. The total number of certified forest education programs to date is 195.

Lee Yong-kwon, Director of Forest Education and Healing Division at the Korea Forest Service, said, “Gwangju and Jeju have not had institutions for training early childhood forest instructors, which has caused many complaints among trainees in those regions.” He added, “We hope that through early childhood forest instructors in these areas, local young children will be able to receive high-quality experiential activities and education in the forest.”
