Stairs, roads, and ramps will be neatly and safely maintained according to the characteristics of each section.
The project budget is 900 million KRW from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The district office established the construction plan in February, followed by design and contract review, resident briefings, and construction bidding procedures.
A district official said, “As a result of the first phase of the Haebangchon alleyway pedestrian environment improvement project on 9 alleyways last year, residents’ responses were very positive. We will complete maintenance including sections not covered in the 2019 project, the Haebangchon Urban Regeneration Support Center, and areas requested by the residents’ council.”
Since 2015, the district has been continuing the Haebangchon urban regeneration project aiming to restore the local commercial district and improve a safe and pleasant residential environment in the Yongsan 2-ga-dong area. A total of 10 billion KRW in national and city funds is invested in eight key projects including “Creating a Safe Living Environment,” “Making Green Villages,” and “Revitalizing Sinheung Market.”
The publicly led project will continue until the end of this year, after which related projects are expected to be carried out mainly by the urban regeneration corporation (CRC).
