"Air Conditioner Sales Up 35% Year-on-Year Due to Early Heatwave"
Lotte Hi-Mart Sales Summary from June 1 to 9
'Tropical Nights' Especially Increase in Gangwon-do
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Since June, the daytime high temperatures in the Seoul metropolitan area have exceeded 33 degrees Celsius, bringing an early heatwave and increasing the number of consumers seeking air conditioners.
On the 10th, Lotte Hi-Mart analyzed air conditioner sales from June 1 to 9 and found that sales increased by 35% compared to the same period last year. In particular, on the 8th, air conditioner demand surged in the Gangwon region, which recorded its first tropical night of the year. During the same period, air conditioner sales in Gangwon increased by 50% compared to last year.
Kim Sang-jun, branch manager of Lotte Hi-Mart World Tower store, said, “With the early heatwave this week, more customers are purchasing air conditioners in advance. Buying an air conditioner before the peak heat in July and August has the advantage of allowing customers to install their desired model at their preferred time, so this trend is expected to continue.”
Meanwhile, over 460 Lotte Hi-Mart stores nationwide are holding the “Air Conditioners Are Definitely Hi-Mart” event throughout this month. Depending on the event model, customers can receive up to 500,000 KRW cashback. If payment is made with the event partner card, customers can also enjoy up to 36 months of interest-free installments depending on the purchase amount. Brand-specific promotions are also prepared. Purchasing a Samsung Electronics stand-type air conditioner earns up to 500,000 L.Points, and a 2in1 air conditioner earns up to 700,000 L.Points. Additionally, purchasing an LG Electronics stand-type air conditioner with the event card provides up to 400,000 KRW cashback, and up to 500,000 KRW cashback for a 2in1 air conditioner.
