50s Woman Assaulting Paramedic Booked Without Detention

At around 7 p.m. on the 8th, paramedics were dispatched to a store in Yeojwa-dong, Jinhae-gu, following a 119 report that a person was collapsed in a drunken state, complaining of headache and dizziness.
Ms. A repeatedly slapped the cheeks and head of two paramedics while they were checking her consciousness and transporting her to the hospital, and verbally abused them.
The assaulted paramedics reportedly sustained facial contusions and lip lacerations.
According to the Fire Services Act, anyone who assaults or threatens fire service personnel engaged in fire suppression, rescue, or emergency medical activities, thereby obstructing fire service activities, may face up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 50 million won.

Lee Ki-o, head of the Changwon Fire Department, said, "Most assaults on paramedics occur while the assailants are intoxicated, but being under the influence of alcohol does not lessen their responsibility. Assaulting paramedics is an act that threatens public safety, and we will respond strictly to eradicate it."
