[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Singer Yang Joon-il's side has denied rumors circulating online about divorce and remarriage, stating they are not true.
A representative for Yang Joon-il told a media outlet on the 9th, "The divorce and remarriage rumors are groundless," adding, "This spring, we checked comments related to the rumors after a fan's report and intended to take legal action, but since the comments were deleted, we decided not to pursue the matter. We are still considering how to respond."
Recently, an online community post claimed that "Yang Joon-il secretly has a daughter who is a high school student, and his first wife is in Guam with their daughter. The wife, struggling with debt, took on various odd jobs, and thanks to an acquaintance who helped her secure a house, she is now working as a vice president at a Korean bar in Guam."
The post was originally written in March but sparked controversy after being re-shared recently.
Meanwhile, Yang Joon-il debuted in 1991 and released songs such as "Ganadara Marabasa," "Dance with me Agassi," and "Rebecca."
He stopped activities after his second album and later performed under the name V2 but did not gain much attention.
After leaving the entertainment industry for 20 years, videos of his past performances were uploaded to YouTube last year, earning him the nickname "Topgol GD."
