Gwangju Dong-gu Expands Traffic Signals and Speed Cameras in School Zones
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 8th that it will install signal and speed enforcement cameras at three locations, including Jangwon Elementary School, to create a safe traffic environment for vulnerable pedestrians and children.
Dong-gu has been promoting this project for two years, starting last year with the installation at four locations including Gyerim, Yulgok, Hakun, and Yongsan Elementary Schools, to prevent traffic safety accidents caused by signal violations and speeding within child protection zones.
This year, cameras will be installed at three locations: Jangwon Elementary School, Dongsan Elementary School, and Yeongsin Daycare Center. Once construction is completed next month, it is expected to greatly contribute to preventing safety accidents for vulnerable pedestrians such as children by encouraging safe driving.
