Gwangju City Selected for Korea Tourism Organization's 'Meeting Technology Contest Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 3rd that the World Human Rights Cities Forum was selected in the ‘Meeting Technology Contest Project’ conducted by the Korea Tourism Organization, securing 46 million KRW in national funding.
The ‘Meeting Technology Application Project’ is a project newly implemented this year by the Korea Tourism Organization to promote innovative growth of the MICE industry using information and communication technology in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Gwangju City will introduce cutting-edge meeting technology at the 10th World Human Rights Cities Forum, held from October 7 to 10 this year.
During the forum, key attendees will be introduced via hologram video, remote video conferences will be held with overseas officials, and advanced earphones capable of real-time interpretation will be provided.
Additionally, a human rights-related virtual reality (VR) experience program will be operated, and meeting information will be made easily accessible at a glance through a mobile app and smart displays.

Yoon Mok-hyun, Director of the Democracy, Human Rights and Peace Bureau of the city, said, “The World Human Rights Cities Forum was selected in the Korea Tourism Organization’s regional specialized convention development contest project in 2019, and this year it was also selected for the Meeting Technology Contest Project. We will do our best to prepare the event so that it can be developed as a new international conference model through the introduction of advanced meeting technology and to enable more overseas officials to participate.”
