Mobile Laundry Service 'Lundrigo' Secures 17 Billion KRW Investment
Smart Factory and Advanced Contactless Laundry System
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Uisikju Company (CEO Cho Sung-woo), which operates the non-face-to-face mobile laundry service 'Laundrigo,' announced on the 2nd that it has secured a total of 17 billion KRW in Series B investment.
This investment included new investors such as Korea Investment Partners, AJU IB Investment, KT Investment, Samsung Venture Investment, and DS Asset Management, along with existing investors Altos Ventures and Hana Ventures. Despite having just passed one year since the service launch, Laundrigo was recognized for its technological capability and business potential, receiving an investment approximately three times the size of the 6.5 billion KRW raised last May, within just one year.
Launched in March last year, Laundrigo has been recognized as a leading non-face-to-face business model in Korea despite the COVID-19 crisis, achieving an average monthly growth rate of 30% until April this year since its service opening. Currently operating in all of Seoul as well as the Ilsan and Pangyo areas in Gyeonggi Province, Laundrigo has processed over 700,000 dry cleaning items, 2 million liters of water laundry, and 30,000 bedding laundry items over the past year.
Laundrigo features an all-in-one product optimized for the busy modern lifestyle by eliminating the hassle of visiting laundromats directly, with its self-developed smart laundry collection box 'Laundlet' enabling non-face-to-face ordering, washing, and delivery all within one day. It handles not only dry cleaning but also water laundry in one service. Additionally, through its smart factory, it reduces intermediate distribution margins and production costs, enabling the provision of high-quality laundry services at reasonable prices. By adopting a subscription economy model with a monthly payment system, it offers laundry services at affordable prices.
Kim Geun-ho, director of Korea Investment Partners, who led the investment, said, "The domestic laundry market, currently worth about 4.5 trillion KRW, is 99% offline-based, but we expect a rapid shift to mobile laundry services with high user convenience." He added, "Since Laundrigo has continuously prepared its own smart factory and system advancement, we are confident it will lead this market, which is why we decided to invest."
