In the letter sent to her Democratic Party colleagues on the 1st, Rep. Yoon stated, "Through the press conference on May 29, I gave a primary explanation regarding the allegations raised so far, but I am well aware that it was insufficient."
She continued, "I sincerely apologize for causing concern to the public, the party, and fellow lawmakers due to my activities and those of Jeongdaehyeop (Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan) at the very start of the 21st National Assembly, which should have been filled with hope and expectation."
Rep. Yoon said, "Since the press conference of Grandmother Lee Yong-soo on May 7, various allegations, sometimes distorted, have been made against me, my family, Jeongdaehyeop, and Jeonguiyeon (Justice and Peace Foundation)." She added, "The reason I was able to endure the initial helplessness and bewilderment and stand at the press conference was because of the support and patience of Representative Lee Hae-chan, other lawmakers, and party members."
She also added, "Feeling the special interest and love from the lawmakers toward Jeonguiyeon's activities anew, I also feel a deep sense of responsibility."
Rep. Yoon referenced the late Grandmother Kim Bok-dong's words, "'Although liberation has come, liberation has not yet come to us,'" and emphasized, "I will engrave this in my heart and do my best to restore the trust of the people."
Meanwhile, Rep. Yoon did not show herself after arriving at her office in the National Assembly Members' Office Building around 9 a.m. on the same day. Around 6:25 p.m., when she came out of her office, she responded to the question, "Is your position that there was no private use related to the apartment auction acquisition still the same?" by saying, "It is the same." She also said, "I cannot explain everything here."
