Incheon Customs Improves Air Cargo Export Procedures to Support Exporters
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Incheon Main Customs announced that starting from the 1st, it will improve the import procedures at the air cargo export terminal to support export activation. According to Incheon Customs, all export cargo must be declared to customs, and airlines load cargo onto aircraft only after confirming the acceptance of the export declaration.
Until now, customs have conducted verification procedures before loading cargo onto aircraft. As a result, during peak times when export cargo is concentrated, delays often occurred due to the confirmation of export declaration acceptance and cargo packaging work. Customs also explained that there were not a few cases of unauthorized loading of domestic goods due to simple mistakes when the acceptance status was not confirmed.
Accordingly, Incheon Customs decided to verify the acceptance status of export declarations at the export terminal import stage from now on. Exporters must bring cargo into the export terminal only after the export declaration has been accepted, except in exceptional cases such as contractual reasons. Terminal operators will use personal digital assistants (PDA) or similar devices to check the acceptance status in real time at the import stage.
