Gwangjin-gu Installs Nation's First Vehicle Entry Prohibition Line
Installation of 'Vehicle Prohibition Lines' to Prevent Misuse Such as Unauthorized Entry and Illegal Parking... Currently Installed in 9 Locations Including Junggok-dong and Jayang-dong Areas, with Plans for Expansion Throughout the District
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has installed the 'Vehicle Entry Prohibition Line (Red Line)' for the first time nationwide to prevent safety accidents around vehicle entrances and exits and to protect sidewalk facilities from damage.
Vehicle entrances and exits are facilities where the curb of the sidewalk is lowered after individuals apply for permission to enter buildings or parking lots from the roadway.
However, until now, there have been problems such as unauthorized entry onto sidewalks and illegal parking, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and leading to safety accidents.
Accordingly, Gwangjin-gu created the 'Vehicle Entry Prohibition Line' around vehicle entrances and exits as an innovative project to instill civic awareness among drivers.
The district has installed the 'Vehicle Entry Prohibition Line' at a total of nine locations in Junggok-dong and Jayang-dong, designed with white letters on a red background for visibility so that both pedestrians and drivers can easily recognize it.
Through this installation, pedestrians are expected to secure safer walking rights, and drivers are anticipated to voluntarily comply with regulations.
According to a survey conducted among pedestrians regarding the Vehicle Entry Prohibition Line, 76% responded positively to the question of whether it helps improve driver awareness, and 92% agreed with expanding the installation.
Accordingly, the district plans to install eight additional lines in Guui and Jayang-dong areas by July and gradually expand the installation throughout the district.
