Watford Forward Dini Faces Hate Comments Saying "Hope Your Son Gets Corona" After Refusing Training
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Troy Deeney (31, Watford) of the English Premier League (EPL) revealed that he suffered from malicious comments after refusing to return to training due to concerns about his son's health.
On the 28th (Korean time), Deeney told the American media 'CNN Sports', "I checked people's comments. Some said, 'I hope your son gets COVID.' That was a very difficult part for me."
He continued, "If I had reacted, they would have posted more malicious comments out of a sense of achievement. I raised my voice following a campaign to speak out, but what I received in return was people's attacks," he lamented.
He added, "Afterwards, I had meetings with officials. As Watford's captain, I will return to team training next week."
Earlier, Watford players returned to the training ground and started training from the 20th.
However, Deeney refused to return to training, saying his 5-month-old son was experiencing breathing problems, and he was attacked with malicious comments by some fans.
