View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that County Governor Shin Woo-cheol has been making extensive efforts over two days from the 25th to the 26th to resolve county issues and secure next year's government budget.
On the 25th, Governor Shin met with Son Myung-soo, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and requested that the second phase of the project, the "Gudo?Soan Island Bridge Construction Project," be launched early to realize the practical effects of the project following the completion of the "Nohwa?Gudo Island Bridge Project."
He also requested that the "Upgrade of Local Road No. 830 between Wando Gogeum and Geojeong in Goheung" and the "Yaksan Dangmok?Geumil Island Bridge Project" be included in the 2nd National Road Network Comprehensive Plan to be promoted as national balanced development projects.
During a meeting with the Director of the Road Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, he proposed conducting a preliminary feasibility study to enable the early commencement of the "Upgrade of Local Road No. 830 between Wando and Goheung" and the "Phase 2 Construction Project of the Gwangju?Wando Expressway."
He visited the Marine Policy Office of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to request the inclusion of 9.3 billion KRW in national funds in the budget for the "Wando Marine Healing Center Construction Project," scheduled for completion in October 2021.
In particular, he emphasized the need for budget support for the establishment of a seaweed bioactive material production facility to foster the seaweed-specialized marine bioindustry and requested that the county's urgent issues be reflected in the 4th National Port Basic Plan (2021?2030).
On the 26th, he met with Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, to request support for the early commencement of the region's long-awaited projects, the "Gudo?Soan Island Bridge Construction Project" and the "Geumil?Yaksan Island Bridge Project."
He also stressed the active attraction of the National Marine and Fisheries Museum, which is absent in Jeollanam-do despite its rich marine and fisheries resources compared to other regions, at the provincial level.
Furthermore, he requested full support and cooperation to restore the historical sites in the Wando Gogeum area where Admiral Yi Sun-sin and General Jin Lin’s combined naval forces were stationed, so that it can be developed as a focal point of the new growth tourism belt along the southern coast.
