Itaewon Club Outbreak Infects 247 People... "30% Asymptomatic Cases" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) originating from Itaewon clubs has reached 247.
Son Young-rae, head of the Public Relations Management Team at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong on the 26th, "As of midnight today, the number of patients related to Itaewon clubs is 247."
So far, 83,000 tests have been conducted in connection with Itaewon clubs. It was found that community chain infections through visitors are more numerous than cases of people who directly visited the clubs.
The quarantine authorities pointed out that more than 30% of confirmed cases related to Itaewon clubs are asymptomatic infections, indicating that silent transmission is repeatedly occurring.
