Black Yak, Unique Island Trips Taken Separately and Together
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Starting with the sunrise at the beach pier, the charm of a quiet island village, forest trails filled with greenery on the mountain, and footsteps leading to the summit with breathtaking ocean views, islands where mountains and sea meet have a unique appeal. Black Yak has launched a new program called 'Island & Mountain 100' on the app-based largest domestic hiking community platform, Black Yak Alpine Club (BAC), in collaboration with Jeollanam-do Province.
Island & Mountain 100 is Korea's first island travel project that allows travelers to discover new pleasures while exploring beautiful and distinctive islands in the country. Travelers who find it difficult to travel alone to islands can use the BAC bulletin board to find crew members to carpool with, and by taking and uploading photos at designated certification spots, they can earn points equivalent to the height of the mountain, which can be used at stores.
For backpackers traveling to islands, the best technology has been incorporated into products considering the diverse environments of the islands. The 'BAC+Helinox Alpine Dome 2P,' launched through collaboration between Black Yak and Helinox, is a product specialized for the 'Island & Mountain 100' program that helps foster a longer communion with nature. Although it is a two-person tent, it weighs only 2.46kg, significantly reducing the load for island travel.
The flysheet is made of 20D fabric with silicone coating, and the poles are from DAC, the world's number one tent pole manufacturer, making it lightweight yet effective in blocking strong island winds and maintaining the tent's structure without tilting. Additionally, it features a safe and comfortable vestibule space and meticulous design for easy and quick tent setup. A mud skirt is attached to the outside of the flysheet to protect the interior from external weather and contamination. Pole connections are also easy, allowing solo setup within 5 minutes even in severe weather.
The 'Illusion Road GTX' is inspired by the diverse weather and natural environment of Jeju Island and is realized through Black Yak's innovative technology. It is a product that can be worn both on-road and off-road on the island and its mountains. Inspired by the waves crashing on Jeju, the 'Wave Illusion Midsole' features different patterns on the inside and outside, comfortably wrapping the foot and maintaining balanced steps.
The 'Illusion Gel' inserted between the midsoles effectively absorbs shocks from the ground while walking. The Gore-Tex Invisible Fit technology is also applied, providing waterproof and breathable functions while minimizing skin pressure, enabling comfortable and pleasant walking even in rainy or humid weather.
