Gwanak-gu Recruiting 200 College Students for Summer Vacation Part-Time Jobs
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee) is recruiting university student part-time workers for the upcoming summer vacation.
The "University Student Part-time Operation" is a program run by the district every vacation period to provide local university students with opportunities to experience administrative work, enhance their understanding of district administration, and help form a proper work ethic.
Eligibility requires applicants to be registered residents of Gwanak-gu as of the application start date (June 1) and to be enrolled or on leave at a junior college or a four-year university.
A total of 200 positions are available, of which 50 (25% of the total recruitment) are specially selected, including recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, lower-income groups, and registered persons with disabilities.
A district official explained, "Originally, the number of recruits was 50, but to alleviate the economic difficulties of university students caused by COVID-19 and to promote their livelihood stability, we allocated an additional budget of about 170 million won and greatly expanded the number to 200."
The selected university students will work from July 6 to 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., five hours a day, supporting various administrative tasks such as civil service guidance and data organization.
Department assignments will be made by reflecting applicants' majors, preferred work locations, and the characteristics of the departments as much as possible to help with their social life experience.
The application period is from June 1 to 5, and applications can be submitted through the Gwanak-gu Office website (Participation·Reservation → Administrative Application).
Selection will be made randomly through a computerized lottery, and only the first 15 applicants can observe the lottery process.
The final list of selected candidates will be posted on the district website at 6 p.m. on June 12.

District Mayor Park Junhee said, "This year, we significantly increased the number of jobs for university students who are likely to face economic difficulties due to the difficulty of finding part-time jobs amid COVID-19. We hope this will be an enjoyable experience where students can earn tuition fees and experience district administration by working part-time at government offices during the vacation period."
