All Korea Party staff issued a statement that day, urging, "The party does not belong to the leadership." This criticism came as party staff joined the 21st National Assembly elected members of the Korea Party in criticizing the party leadership for hesitating on the merger.
They stated, "All secretariat staff of the Korea Party who participated in every process from the party's founding to the election feel great disappointment and responsibility over the delay in the merger, which was a promise to the people," and criticized, "The Korea Party leadership is rejecting this obvious direction."
They explained, "The Korea Party was founded as a proportional representation party with the support of the United Party to counter the ruling coalition's fragmented mixed-member proportional representation system in the 21st general election," adding, "It was the United Party's secretariat staff who participated as founding promoters, took charge of the founding process from start to finish, and voluntarily raised the founding costs. The necessary party members for the founding were supporters of the United Party or members who left the United Party."
They targeted party leader Won Yoo-chul, saying, "The Korea Party's first-place finish in party votes reflects the fact that it is the United Party's proportional representation party, the ruling coalition's unilateral election law revision, and the public's disappointment with the Democratic Party of Korea's behavior in breaking promises to the people by creating a proportional representation party. It is by no means the achievement of any one individual."
They also clearly opposed the Korea Party leadership's plan to hold a party convention on the 26th to extend the leadership's term. They pointed out, "If, just a few days after agreeing with Joo Ho-young, the United Party floor leader, to promptly merge, the Korea Party leadership flips such a serious promise to the people like turning over a hand, which citizen would support us? This party convention has no justification or practical benefit."
Accordingly, all secretariat staff of the Korea Party decided to completely refuse to carry out party affairs from this time onward in opposition to the Korea Party convention scheduled for the 26th.
