[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) achieved a remarkable feat by ranking 1st in financial capacity and 3rd in overall evaluation in the ‘2020 National Local Government Evaluation’ conducted by the Korean Local Autonomy Association, gaining recognition for high-quality administrative services tailored to residents' expectations.
This evaluation assessed the administrative service sector and financial capacity sector separately.
The administrative service sector was subdivided into five areas: △health and welfare △local economy △culture and tourism △safety △education, while the financial capacity sector was divided into five areas: △financial conditions △financial soundness △financial efficiency △financial performance △self-effort.
Among 69 autonomous districts, the district proudly ranked 1st in financial capacity and 7th in administrative services, securing 3rd place in the overall ranking.
The achievement of efficiently managing finances by increasing the ratio of self-generated revenue, maximizing financial efficiency, and using limited budgets effectively to avoid wasting even a single penny of residents' taxes was clearly demonstrated through various statistical data including Local Finance 365, and was reaffirmed through this financial capacity evaluation.
In addition, the administrative service sector showed overall excellent district capabilities, including the health and welfare field with notable efforts to expand childcare facilities such as i-Land and Mom Dundeun Centers; the local economy field highlighting the activities of social enterprises and improved social independence of local disabled persons; the culture and tourism field reflecting efforts to expand cultural infrastructure such as the opening of village libraries; the safety field emphasizing local safety indices, flood and wind disaster preparedness, and low traffic accident rates; and the education field receiving high evaluations for multicultural education policies and lifelong learning support efforts such as Neulpureum School.
