[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police investigating the production and distribution of sexual exploitation materials in the Telegram 'Baksa Bang' have applied for arrest warrants against two paid members on charges of joining a criminal organization.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Special Investigation Unit for Digital Sex Crimes announced on the 21st that they have applied for arrest warrants against two paid members who were heavily involved in Baksa Bang on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (distribution of child sexual exploitation materials, etc.) and joining a criminal organization.
The police reportedly applied the charge of joining a criminal organization, recognizing that Baksa Bang was not operated solely by the operator Jo Joo-bin (24), but was run with a kind of division of roles and responsibilities, and that these individuals were active as paid members.
A police official explained, "In the future, those among the paid members who actively sympathize with or participate in crimes will also be charged with joining a criminal organization."
