Gyeonggi-do Conducts Safety Inspections at 528 Sites Including Reservoirs in Preparation for Rainy Season
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a preliminary safety inspection of agricultural production infrastructure and construction sites in the province by early next month to prepare for heavy rain and typhoons.
Conducted jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, this inspection is a measure to prevent disasters in advance by checking the operation and management status of facilities such as reservoirs and drainage stations before the full rainy season and strengthening preventive measures at construction sites.
The inspection targets a total of 528 locations, including 337 reservoirs, 67 drainage stations, 53 embankments, and 71 construction sites. The inspection will first be conducted comprehensively by city and county officials and the Korea Rural Community Corporation, who manage agricultural production infrastructure, and the province will then conduct focused inspections on important facilities and large-scale construction sites based on the inspection results.
The province will focus on ▲ management status of flood control materials ▲ preparation and implementation status of safety management plans for the rainy season ▲ drainage management within construction sites and drainage plans for flooding in surrounding areas ▲ proper implementation of safety, quality, and environmental management plans ▲ maintenance of emergency contact networks with related organizations.
For minor issues found during the inspection, the province will take immediate corrective actions, and for facilities judged to have safety problems or vulnerability to disasters, emergency measures will be prioritized, followed by the establishment of permanent measures such as repairs and reinforcements.
