Completion of Artterior Project at Gwangjin-gu 'Migaro Mat-ui Street'
Revitalizing 24 Business Districts and Showcasing Young Artists' Talents: A Win-Win Effect
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has renovated 24 businesses by promoting the 'Our Neighborhood Store Artterior Support Project' from November last year to April this year.
The 'Our Neighborhood Store Artterior Support Project' connects young artists with local stores, improving the interior and exterior design of stores operated by small business owners, as well as product design, through the talents of young artists.
This project was prepared to revitalize the local economy by supporting art marketing using artworks for small business stores in the Miga-ro Taste Street area around Guui Station, which has been in decline.
The district selected 2 intermediate managing artists and 12 young artists, matching them with 24 small business stores located on Miga-ro Taste Street.
The selected stores are store-type businesses where customers visit and sales occur, with fewer than 5 regular employees, and are experiencing temporary management difficulties.
The young artists visited the matched stores and carried out painting design work on the interior and exterior of the stores, as well as various printed materials and window sheet design work.
They also created logos that matched the store image, making the stores more sophisticated and creative.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “This project is meaningful in that it transformed the declining Miga-ro Taste Street into a young and unique image to invigorate the street, and provided young artists, who have talent but few social activity opportunities, a chance to showcase their abilities.”
