Haenam-gun Adds 111 Additional Security CCTV Cameras
338 Vehicles Including in Front of Haenam-eup Office, Enhancing Residents' Sense of Safety in Daily Life
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County in Jeonnam announced on the 19th that it will invest 930 million won of county funds to additionally install CCTV cameras in vulnerable areas within the county to ensure the safety of residents.
The locations include 338 additional cameras installed at 111 sites such as the front of Haenam-eup Office on the Southern Loop Road where no CCTV cameras were previously installed, the entrance of the octagonal pavilion on the Geumgangsan hiking trail, and child protection zones around apartments.
Currently, Haenam County has a total of 635 CCTV cameras installed, including 452 cameras at 231 sites for residential crime prevention and child protection zones, and 183 cameras at 21 elementary schools, all monitored by the Haenam County Integrated Control Center.
The CCTV Integrated Control Center operates 24-hour monitoring by staff, and the recorded footage is provided for criminal investigations, traffic accidents, hit-and-run cases, and locating missing persons.
Through monitoring, when smokers are found in no-smoking areas such as parks, broadcast devices are used to ask them to leave. In addition, suspected traffic accidents, drunk driving vehicles, and crime-related incidents are immediately reported to the police station and fire station control rooms for prompt action.
The county plans to secure national funds in the second half of the year to additionally install 233 cameras at 75 sites expected to be disaster-prone areas such as river flooding, heavy snow, storms, tsunamis, fires, and traffic accidents.
