Energy Corporation Operates 'Wind Power Development Council'
Forming a Consortium of Veteran Experts
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Energy Agency announced on the 15th that it held the '2020 Wind Power Development Council' kickoff meeting at The-K Hotel in Yangjae, Seoul.
The council was organized around four subcommittees: policy, industry, acceptance, and operation & management (O&M).
It was composed of about 20 experts with extensive practical experience in wind power from industry, academia, and research, including the Wind Power Industry Association, Korea Energy Economics Institute, and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
The council plans to operate to propose policies and resolve current issues aimed at expanding the wind power market and strengthening the competitiveness of the wind power industry.
For efficient operation of the council, the agency will promote written meetings by subcommittee and face-to-face meetings involving all subcommittee members until October.
Based on the meeting results, it plans to hold a wind power development council forum and publish a policy report by the end of this year.

An agency official said, "Through the operation of this council, we expect to prepare policy support measures to strengthen the technology and price competitiveness of domestically produced equipment by wind power sectors, secure sites for domestic wind power facilities, and develop policy alternatives," adding, "We will continue efforts to strengthen the competitiveness and expand the distribution of the domestic wind power industry."
