Household Members in De Facto Divorce Status Also Eligible to Apply for and Receive 'Emergency Disaster Relief Fund'
Ministry of the Interior and Safety Announces Follow-up Measures for Handling Objections
The government's emergency disaster relief fund credit and debit card recharge application began at 7 a.m. on the 11th through the websites of nine card companies. Similar to the public mask 5-day rotation system, the application follows a day-of-the-week system, and from the 16th, applications can be made at any time. The support amounts are 400,000 KRW for single-person households, 600,000 KRW for two-person households, 800,000 KRW for three-person households, and 1,000,000 KRW for households of four or more. On the 12th, the government announced additional objection processing measures for the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund based on this content and guided local governments accordingly.
First, as of April 30 of this year, if divorce litigation is ongoing, it will be possible to separately distribute the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund to household members through an objection application. Even if divorce litigation has not been filed, if a de facto divorce status such as long-term separation is recognized as of April 30, it will also be possible to separately distribute the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund through an objection application.
In cases where objections are accepted due to divorce litigation or de facto divorce, each support amount will be the original support amount divided equally by the number of household members (1/n). In cases with children or other dependents, the current primary caregiver will be recognized as a household member for calculating the support amount.
Supporting documents serving as the basis for such judgments include a resident registration certificate, divorce litigation documents, and a 'Childcare Status Confirmation' signed by two or more adults (family or relatives).
Additionally, for individual cases that are difficult to uniformly judge at frontline offices, a 'Objection Review Committee (TF)' by city, county, or district will review and decide, aiming to reflect the diverse situations of citizens as much as possible.
