Education Superintendent Lee Jae-jung: "School Reopening Should Be Postponed Considering the Worsening COVID-19 Situation"

On the 11th, Superintendent Lee said, "The Ministry of Education and the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters will review and decide how long the postponement will be," adding, "Considering the worsening situation of COVID-19, postponing the return to school for 3rd-year high school students is unavoidable."
He especially mentioned, "When the Ministry of Education recently sought advice on this matter, I thought it was most important to hear the opinions of students, parents, and teachers," and added, "After conducting surveys by school in the Yongin and Seongnam areas, about 40% opposed and 60% supported the postponement of the return to school."
Superintendent Lee explained, "I submitted these survey results and the opinion that postponement is inevitable to the Ministry of Education," and said, "Since the health rights of students are very important, I understand that the Ministry of Education will review this matter very meaningfully."

Regarding the duration of the postponement, he stated, "It is not appropriate to specify how long the postponement should be," and added, "I will wait for the government to make an appropriate decision."
