[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] For Parents' Day, the most desired car to gift parents was the Genesis G80 among domestic cars and the Audi Q8 among imported cars.
According to a survey conducted by direct used car dealer K Car on the 7th, 27.4% of respondents chose the Genesis G80 as the domestic car they would most like to gift their parents. Following that was the Genesis GV80 (24.7%), confirming the high preference for the Genesis brand. Respondents commented, "It has spaciousness, ride comfort, and performance all together," and "It is a car with dignity suitable for parents' age."
Next, Hyundai's Avante (21.2%) showed a high response rate, supported by its design and marketing targeting the senior demographic, while Kia's new Sorento (18.5%) and Renault Samsung's XM3 (6.8%) also made the list.
In the imported car category, the large luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) Audi Q8 ranked first with 28.8%. Respondents chose the Q8 for its luxurious and sophisticated design and comfortable ride. The second place went to the large SUV Land Rover New Discovery Sport (20.5%), followed by the small premium hatchback BMW New 1 Series (15.1%), which received many selections due to brand recognition and reasonable pricing.
More than half of the survey respondents preferred sedans (55.5%) for their parents, with SUVs ranking second at 35.6%. Considering the lifestyle and preferences of the parents' generation, it is analyzed that sedans with quiet and comfortable rides are deemed suitable.
