On the 7th, the committee held a full meeting and approved amendments to the Telecommunications Business Act and the Information and Communications Network Act, collectively known as the 'n번방 Prevention Act,' with modifications. These bills primarily require internet service providers to apply 'filtering' technology to block digital sexual crime materials before distribution and introduce penalties for failing to take immediate action against posted digital sexual crime materials.
Additionally, the bills include provisions mandating internet service providers to designate persons responsible for preventing the distribution of illegal filming materials and to submit transparency reports. The resolution titled 'Resolution Urging International Cooperation for the Eradication of Digital Sexual Crime Materials and Punishment of Offenders,' led by Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Won-wook, also passed the committee's full meeting today.
