With the Transition to COVID-19 Daily Quarantine... National Maritime and Lighthouse Museums Reopen from the 8th
Advance Reservation System Implemented to Disperse Visitors
[Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 6th that, as social distancing measures due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) transition to a daily quarantine system, five marine cultural facilities under the ministry’s jurisdiction will partially resume operations starting from the 8th.
First, the National Maritime Museum and the National Lighthouse Museum will reopen from the 8th, and the National Marine Biodiversity Institute will reopen on the 12th. Other exhibition facilities will gradually resume operations in accordance with daily quarantine guidelines.
According to the facility operation guidelines under the daily quarantine system, visitor services can be resumed within the scope of collecting visitors’ names and contact information. Accordingly, each exhibition facility plans to implement an advance reservation system through their websites and disperse visitor numbers by time slots to prevent large crowds from gathering all at once.
However, group visits, group guided tours, cultural events, educational programs, and certain crowded experiential facilities such as 4D theaters and children’s museums will have their operations restricted to avoid crowding.
