Park Ji-won, on 'Condolence Speech Controversy,' Urges Lee Nak-yeon to "Take Go Geon and Lee Hoe-chang as Negative Examples"
"Politics is Most Important to Public Sentiment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Park Jiwon, a member of the Minsheng Party, advised that "former Prime Ministers Go Geon and Lee Hoechang should be taken as lessons" amid controversy over the conversation between former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon, who is mentioned as the next presidential candidate of the ruling party, and the bereaved families at the condolence altar for the victims of the fire disaster in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 6th, Park appeared on Gwangju KBS Radio's 'Start of Mudeung Morning' and said, "(Former Prime Minister Lee) is doing well now, but he must not make mistakes."
He added, "No matter how strong the political power is, public sentiment is the most important," and "Now, for the sake of former Prime Minister Lee as well, politics should be conducted with a view toward the entire nation and the whole country, not limited to a region."
Earlier, on the 5th, former Prime Minister Lee visited the joint condolence altar for the Icheon fire disaster victims and had a conflict with some bereaved families.
