'Fast Track Collision' Democratic Party Demands Submission of All Videos Related to the Incident
Preparation Hearing Held on the 6th at Seoul Southern District Court
Defense Team: "The Substance of the Case Cannot Be Confirmed with Some Videos"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Democratic Party lawmakers, who were indicted over last year's 'National Assembly Fast-Track (Rapid Processing Agenda) Clash Incident,' have requested the prosecution to submit the entire video footage related to the case as evidence.
At the second preparatory hearing for the trial of Democratic Party lawmaker Park Beom-gye and nine others, including aides and party officials, on charges of joint injury and joint assault under the Act on the Punishment of Violent Crimes held on the 6th at the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 12 (Presiding Judge Oh Sang-yong), the defense team argued, "The substance of the case cannot be confirmed with only some of the videos submitted by the prosecution."
In response, the prosecution countered, "The videos not submitted were deemed unnecessary for the progress of this trial," adding, "It would be problematic if the trial is delayed due to parts unrelated to the charges."
During the hearing, the defense team reviewed the evidence list, including over 700 statements and media reports, expressing 'disagreement' or 'reservation' on a significant portion. The prosecution responded, "The purpose of these opinions is unclear."
The preparatory hearing is a procedure held before the formal trial to organize the defendant's position on the charges, clarify issues, and plan the trial schedule. Defendants are not obligated to attend the trial, and none appeared in court on this day.
