Jae-hoon Lee's Direct Breakthrough
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Clever Lee Jehoon.
Actor Lee Jehoon is diligently moving forward with the movie 'Time to Hunt' (Director Yoon Sung-hyun) followed by 'Collectors' (Director Park Jung-bae).
Lee Jehoon appeared like a comet in the Korean film industry with 'The Guard Post' (2011) and established himself as a lead through numerous works such as 'Battlefield Heroes' (2011), 'Architecture 101' (2012), and 'Paparo-ti' (2013). Since then, he has continued to advance without pause.
Balancing filming and releases, Lee Jehoon continued his busy schedule even after completing his military service. He announced his return with the drama 'Signal' and the movie 'Detective Hong Gil-dong: The Missing Village' (2016), and in the following year, he remained active without a break with 'Anarchist from Colony' and 'I Can Speak' (2017).
Whether by choice or circumstance, 'Time to Hunt' created a gap for him. There were twists and turns from filming to post-production and release, and Lee Jehoon devoted himself fully in 2018. Although he showcased new charms in the drama 'Fox Bride Star' at the end of that year and the variety show 'Traveler' in early 2019, no films were released to meet audiences. Additionally, the production of 'Volcano' was canceled, leading to a brief pause.
Lee Jehoon was determined to come back stronger. The project he chose was 'Collectors'. The film is a caper movie centered on urban grave robbing, telling the story of Dong-gu (played by Lee Jehoon), a naturally gifted grave robber who, along with experts nationwide, digs up artifacts hidden underground. Portraying Dong-gu, he is expected to reveal another side of himself with his sly and cheerful charm.
'Collectors' was postponed from May to early June due to the COVID-19 pandemic but was delayed again to the second half of the year after further discussions.
In fact, Lee Jehoon was not an actor familiar with challenges. He maintained a neat image and his range of roles was relatively narrow. However, through 'Anarchist from Colony', he hinted at the possibility of change, and with 'Time to Hunt' and 'Collectors', he plans to reveal new facets consecutively.
The changes do not stop there. Previously, Lee Jehoon was known for not discussing topics beyond his works in interviews before film releases, but recently, he has openly expressed his fandom for EBS trainee Pengsoo, shown special affection for his films, and communicates candidly without hesitation.
The film industry is also paying attention to Lee Jehoon's transformation. Having been mainly cast in youth and romance genres, he has expanded his acting spectrum and broadened his possibilities. With his thorough self-management, he is expected to continue receiving love calls from the film industry.
