"The Ice Cream Season in May" GS25 Launches 5 Types of Watermelon Ice Cream
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] GS25 has launched five types of watermelon ice cream to celebrate May, the month with the highest year-round ice cream sales growth.
GS25 chose watermelon as the concept for this year's ice cream products and introduced various unique items on the 6th.
One of the best-selling summer products is the ‘Half-and-Half Watermelon Bar,’ which consists of 50% flesh and 50% rind of the watermelon bar. The top red part tastes like watermelon, and the bottom green part tastes like strawberry. There is also the ‘Chuchu Bar Watermelon,’ a representative tube-type ice cream with watermelon added. It is a sweet and soft sherbet type that can be enjoyed cool and refreshing. Other products include ‘Polarpo Watermelon,’ which adds watermelon flavor to ice granules, ‘Cool Shot Watermelon,’ an ice-type frozen dessert perfect for hot summer consumption, and ‘King Watermelon Bar.’
To commemorate the launch of the watermelon ice cream, GS25 is holding a 1+1 event every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout May when purchasing any of the ‘5 Watermelon Ice Cream Types’ with a ‘Woori Card.’ However, the free item is only given for the same product, and payments made via Payco or KakaoPay are excluded.
Additionally, GS25 introduced the second version of the Gangneung Chodang Soft Tofu Ice Cream, ‘Gangneung Chodang Choco Soft Tofu,’ which sold over one million units within two months of its release. Since its first launch in January, this regional specialty ice cream has been the top-selling cone product. The new version adds chocolate flavor and was developed exclusively for GS Retail. It contains 26.8% Gangneung Chodang soft tofu, mixing its unique savory taste with the sweetness of chocolate.
