Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station Awards 30 Paramedics with 'Heart Saver'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The 119 paramedics of Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station (Chief Lee Wonyong) were awarded the ‘HeartSaver’.
Bukbu Fire Station announced on the 3rd that it awarded ‘HeartSaver’ certificates and badges to 30 119 paramedics who revived citizens in critical condition with professional emergency treatment.
In February, paramedics and rescue workers actively performed CPR and used a defibrillator on Mr. Lee (64), who suffered cardiac arrest at the summit of Unamsan Mountain, restoring his heart rhythm. During the first quarter, they revived three citizens.
At the award ceremony, five paramedics from Munheung 119 Safety Center (Fire Sergeant Kim Minsu, Fire Corporals Oh Younghak, Im Yangjin, Lee Sangyeop, and Firefighter Lee Geunju) received the HeartSaver on behalf of the team, and the awards will be separately delivered to paramedics at the outer centers.
Meanwhile, the ‘HeartSaver’ is an honorary award given quarterly to those who save lives by performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator on patients at risk of death due to cardiac arrest.
