[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The CEO of the construction company responsible for the Gyeonggi-do Icheon logistics warehouse fire, which caused a large number of casualties, knelt and apologized on the 30th.
Lee, CEO of Geonwoo, the company in charge of the Icheon logistics warehouse construction, said at a briefing held at Moga Indoor Gymnasium in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, in the afternoon, "I was wrong. I am sorry," and added, "I will do everything I can," while sobbing.
However, the bereaved families gathered at the scene strongly protested, demanding accountability for the fire, and during this process, one family member even struck CEO Lee.
Lee quickly left the scene and soon fainted, being transported to the hospital by ambulance. The families blocked the ambulance, calling it a "feigned illness," prompting the police to intervene to maintain order at the scene.
