On the 29th, Gyeongsangnam-do announced that about 20 officials, including Governor Kim Kyung-soo, Changwon Mayor Heo Seong-mu, Gimhae Mayor Heo Seong-gon, and Kwon Tae-sung, Director of the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, attended and signed the related agreement.
The Employment Stability Preemptive Response Package Support Project is a program where the government supports and proactively responds by discovering and proposing region-led job projects in areas where employment crises are anticipated.
In September last year, at the 12th meeting of the Presidential Committee on Jobs, a plan to establish a new public contest project was announced as one of the directions for improving regional employment policies. In December of the same year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor invited applications for the project from 17 cities and provinces nationwide. Subsequently, in January this year, the Ministry received project plans from each city and province and, after face-to-face evaluations in February, selected five regions including Gyeongsangnam-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Jeonbuk, Chungbuk, and Incheon as priority agreement targets.
According to the agreement, Gyeongsangnam-do plans to form a consortium with Changwon City and Gimhae City this year, investing a total of 10.75 billion KRW, including 9.1 billion KRW in national funds, to create about 1,000 jobs through vocational training for 1,250 people and support for 92 companies. To this end, three projects and seven detailed initiatives will be implemented.
To establish a comprehensive employment stability support system in Gyeongsangnam-do, the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Employment Stability Governance' and the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Employment Stability Preemptive Response Support Center' will be operated. For employment stability in crisis industries, support will be provided through the 'Crisis Industry Jump-Up Workforce Training' and the 'Crisis Industry Employment-Confirmed Company Support Project.'
To foster new growth industries, the 'Smart Comprehensive Education Support Project,' the 'Future Automobile, Defense and Aerospace Technology Innovation Support Project,' and the 'Advanced Biomedical Industry Employment-Linked Support Project' will be promoted.
