[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI index rose more than 1% compared to the previous day, surpassing the 1950 mark. It has recovered to the level before the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was declared a pandemic.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 29th, as of 10:40 a.m., the KOSPI index was at 1956.81, up 1.17% (22.72 points) from the previous day. After opening at 1936.89, up 0.14% from the previous day, it has steadily risen throughout the morning.
This is the first time since the 11th of last month that the KOSPI index has surpassed the 1950 mark. At that time, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic, and from the following day, the 12th, stock prices began to fall sharply, causing the KOSPI index to break below the 1900 level.
