On the 29th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, there were 22 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in China. Among them, 21 cases were imported from overseas, and 1 case was infected in Guangdong Province.
So far, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in China is 82,858. Among them, 4,633 have died, and 77,578 have recovered and been discharged. Currently, 647 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, 10 are suspected cases, and 8,283 close contacts are under medical observation.
The Chinese government does not include asymptomatic infections in the official confirmed case statistics. On the 28th alone, 26 asymptomatic infections were reported, bringing the current total to 993. Asymptomatic infections refer to people who test positive for COVID-19 but do not show specific symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat.
