Statistics Korea Launches COVID-19 Statistical Web Service... "UN, Statistical Information Linkage"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 29th, Statistics Korea announced that it will launch a 'COVID-19' webpage where domestic and overseas users can easily access information related to the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in statistical compilation.
This webpage was established to provide more systematic information, considering requests for data from the international community and its status as a member country of the United Nations Statistical Commission.
Until now, Statistics Korea has individually responded to requests for COVID-19 response data from national statistical offices such as those of Italy, Mexico, and the Netherlands, as well as major international organizations.
The COVID-19 web content of Statistics Korea consists of ▲establishment of emergency response systems and organizational operations ▲field survey guidelines for various situations ▲key statistical information such as employment and prices during the COVID-19 spread period.
Additionally, the English 'COVID-19' webpage is linked to the United Nations Statistics Division website to facilitate easy search and access for overseas users.
The United Nations Statistics Division opened a dedicated COVID-19 website on the 10th to disseminate various best practices for maintaining statistical production and quality under circumstances such as social distancing and movement restrictions.
The site provides remote work guidelines, a hotline for cooperative COVID-19 response, and links to the 'COVID-19 web addresses' of national statistical offices, encouraging participation from more member countries.
