They are repainting nine species of large herbivorous dinosaurs, including two 17m tall Malawisaurus, famous for appearing as if breaking through the museum wall, the 21m tall Jobaria, and the 21m tall Alamosaurus, known as Dooly's mother, which was repaired after its neck was damaged by Typhoon Soulik. The painting work transforms the skin color, muscles, blood vessels, and even the pupils to create a highly realistic appearance.
In addition, detailed parts such as teeth and claws of the dinosaur sculptures, which were damaged due to long-term exposure outdoors, are being repaired, transforming them into completely new dinosaur appearances.
The dinosaur fossil site features 36 dinosaur sculptures of 21 species installed outdoors to welcome tourists visiting the fossil site.
A Haenam-gun official stated, "We plan to resume operations at major tourist sites early next month after the social distancing period ends," adding, "We are accelerating the final environmental maintenance work to welcome visitors with a fresh and new look."
