Yongin Mayor Baek Gun-gi: "The Core of Post-Corona is the Economy"
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Baek Gun-gi, mayor of Yongin City, emphasized that the core of the 'post-COVID-19' era will be the economy.
On the 28th, Mayor Baek stated through a Facebook live broadcast, "In Yongin City, there has not been a single case of community infection in the past three weeks," and evaluated, "We are all controlling COVID-19 well and responding effectively."
He added, "Economically, the damage caused is greater than during the IMF financial crisis, and the damage is still ongoing," emphasizing, "The most urgent task is to protect economic agents from collapsing during this crisis phase."
In this regard, Yongin City will issue 57 billion won worth of new Yongin Pay as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy this year.
Additionally, together with Gyeonggi Province, it has supported a total of 309.2 billion won in funds, including disaster basic income (212.6 billion won), care support funds for elementary, middle, and high school students (13.7 billion won), and child care coupons (25.9 billion won).
Mayor Baek requested, "There are limits to reviving the economy and rescuing small business owners in crisis with only government or Yongin City support," and urged, "Please participate in the Good Rent Movement for building owners and store owners."
The Yongin City Council previously passed a resolution to reduce building property tax by up to 50% for good landlords, COVID-19 confirmed patients, self-quarantined individuals, and business suspension cases.
